“As a child we took many car trips from Lincoln to my grandparent’s farm in Salem, Nebraska. Being the oldest of four children, I got the seat next to the window. Most times I spent the two hours down and back looking at the passing scenery. Not so munch for future artistic competitions but because it kept me from getting ‘car sick.’

Little did I know that my observations of plowed fields, red barns, dirt roads, stands of trees, and colorful skies would become the subject of my mature paintings. The memories of Nebraska landforms collected as child influence my work even more today than it did in the past.”
